About Hout Bay
Hout Bay, near Cape Town, South Africa. This is a unique little valley. There are only three ways in and out, resulting in this once quaint little seaside village having been dubbed ”The Republic of Hout Bay”. So called because its inhabitants tended to see themselves as somewhat removed from the rest of the country. Hout Bay is, however, not what it used to be. Since the birth of the South African Rainbow Nation, Hout Bay has exploded into a multicultural centre where privilege lives side by side with poverty, the haves and the have nots walk the same streets, and there is no right or wrong side of the tracks, just the train of humanity clicking along into tomorrow.
