Jonathan Stilwell, Founder
Jonathan spent a number of successful years in the advertising industry before chucking that in to pack his car and head for the Transkei (a rural area along the East Coast of South Africa) to work as a volunteer co-ordinator. Projects he was involved in include a surf school for orphans, a primary school for underprivileged kids and an eco project, teaching people how to grow their own food and live sustainably. It has been a long time dream of his to start his own volunteering organization, and yes, dreams come true. Apart from running Volunteering Cape Town, Jono sits the Board of Advisors for the local chapter of AISEC. AIESEC is the largest student run volunteer exchange organization in the world with 100 000 members. He is actively involved in hosting student volunteers as well as providing advertising and marketing advice for the local AIESEC committee.
Hilary Jane, Volunteer counsellor
Hilary is an ex high school teacher. She spent 40 successful years teaching English, and has won several awards for the high standards her pupils achieved. During her time as a teacher, she also gained a reputation as someone students could easily approach for guidance and support, particularly for students from challenging or unhappy backgrounds. With her built in ability and experience of being able to relate to young people on their level, she has become an extremely popular and effective councillor to them. If you’re missing home, feeling down, or just need someone to talk to over tea, she is there for you. Hilary is also passionate about Shakespeare’s works and offers English lessons in reading, writing and the spoken word.
Warren Bright, Operations Manager
Warren is a coffee fanatic. Did we mention that he loves the digital world? With a strong background focusing in digital strategy and content creation, as well as working with many reputable brands such as Fanta, Cornetto, WeChat and Ubisoft, combined with how he was with Cape Town’s best digital agency, meant that we really had to have him! Warren reckons that the best way to drink coffee is over the campfire, somewhere under the stars.
